Electron microscopy in kidney research

Renal pathology is the only specialty in anatomical pathology that use electron microscopy (EM) routinely. In the past EM had been instrumental research tool for renal pathology leading the specialty to where it is today. Liapis demonstrates that EM is still the important research tool for renal pathology despite the trend toward molecular approach.
